Weatherization

Weatherization

Warmed or air-conditioned air mixes with outside air through gaps in your home’s thermal envelope – exterior walls, windows, doors, the roof, and floors. These air leaks can waste large amounts of energy.

Caulking and weather stripping will alleviate drafts and help your home feel warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Because this is a very inexpensive, caulking and weather stripping gaps can pay for itself quickly. As important as these weatherization techniques are, they still can’t replace the need for proper insulation throughout your home.

AAE’s Switch and Outlet Gaskets are easily installed behind the faceplates and remain completely invisible. As electrical outlet and switch boxes typically penetrate into the wall cavity, they allow for heating and cooling losses in your home. These gaskets provide a tight seal that help to reduce drafts and insulate walls without requiring the use of caulks or spray foams.
